How Important is Public Transportation?

In a 2009 telephone survey conducted by Dittman Research for the Alaska Mobility Coalition, nine of 10 residents (94%) in communities with public transportation services considered public transit important in their community.

Survey respondents ranked the availability of public transportation in the top three local transportation issues, with fuel prices and the condition of roads and bridges.
